LINKED FOREVER

This is my oldest and I. What a beautiful soul inside and out. Blessed to have such a strong relationship with her, just like I had one with my sweet mama.

Mom and child. It’s a bond like no other and if you were blessed to have one as awesome as mine—you hit the jack pot! 🥰

I lost my mom when I was 15 years old to breast cancer (fuck cancer, BTW). It sucked so bad. She was my best friend and I loved everything about her. Her smile. Her silly ways. Her constant desire to be as healthy as possible through food and exercise. Her willingness to always be there for us. She was the mom everyone wanted. All of our friends would love visiting because she took care of everyone who came through our doors. That’s just who she was. She loved her blush wine (chuckle, snort, snort). The Franzia box had a permanent spot on the shelf! 🤣😂🤣 She liked her light beer, too! 🍺 She loved to dance and had her own studio at one point. She even landed a spot on the original 1976 Seattle Seahawks Sea Gal squad! Suffice it to say, I was the original Jr. Sea Gal because she was the only mom and the oldest (35). I had so much fun learning and doing all the cheers. It’s something I will treasure forever. They call them the Seahawks Dancers now and I think she might have really dug that. It’s also why I’m a die hard fan of the team forever and always! 💙💚 #GoHawks

No matter how many years go by (it’s hard to believe it’s been almost 36 years), I still miss her, but I feel her connection. It’s a link that does not break. I know she’s with me always and guides me from heaven. We can all learn from someone like my mama Arlene. She left a legacy that will never be forgotten.

We are linked forever, and I’m truly blessed to have had her in my life for those short 15 years. It wasn’t nearly enough time, but enough to leave a lasting impact of life lessons and how to lead your life in state of optimism. She had a saying “Can’t is a four-letter word so you’re not allowed to say it.” Let’s just say that lesson, alone, has been the best one of my life. I use it daily and have taught my own daughters the same lesson. We can, we will and even when we fall, we get back up and try again.

I wrote this card with her in mind and the necklace depicts the love I will always have for her—permanently linked!

Peace out ✌
Krissi
